In New York City, Trump's name was removed from three rental towers he once owned, after 600 residents signed an online petition.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, addressed citizens' concerns in an hourlong meeting with Trump.

De Blasio said he also questioned Trump about his selection of Steve Bannon as his chief adviser. Bannon has been linked with conservative alt-right groups that embrace and promote white nationalism, and as a media person who has expressed views that many see as racist and misogynist.
Some Republican lawmakers also have criticized Trump in the past, but they presented a united front on Wednesday.

Democrats have started efforts to reinvigorate the party after the unexpected loss in the presidential election. Senator Charles Schumer, the new Senate minority leader, announced newly elected party leaders on Wednesday.
