Ms. Barclay: So you want to be a teacher, Mr. Handy.
(short pause)
Joe Handy: Yes, I do. I want to teach third grade.
(short pause)
Ms. B: I see that you were a cowboy from 1977 to 1997.
(short pause)
Joe: That’s right, Ms. Barclay,
(short pause)
I became a cowboy right after college.
(short pause)
Ms. B: That’s very interesting, Mr. Handy,
(short pause)
But what can a cowboy teach to little children?
(short pause)
Joe: Well... I studied the stars every night for twenty years.
(short pause)
I know a lot about stars.
(short pause)
Ms. B: That’s very nice, but...
(short pause)
Joe: And mathematics! I counted cows every day when I was a cowboy!
(short pause)
Ms. B: But what do you know about children, Mr. Handy?
(short pause)
Joe: Well... I know that they like to run around, and they eat a lot.
(short pause)
Ms. B: Well, that’s all true, but...
(short pause)
Joe: And I know that they need love and attention.... just like cows!
(short pause)
Larry: Listen and repeat.
