News that a second Ebola patient took a flight just days before being diagnosed has left many to question the safety of air travel.

Officials from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have said there is "very low risk" to any of the passengers who were on the flight, as Ebola spreads by direct contact with infected body fluids, like vomit or blood, and not through the air, like flu.

Despite the low risk, the agency and the airline say they are reaching out to all 132 passengers who were aboard.

That second patient is a nurse, who was diagnosed with Ebola earlier this week. She worked on the medical team in Dallas that treated Liberian Thomas Eric Duncan, who died on October 8.

CDC Director Tom Frieden said there was "zero risk of transmission on the flight," that Duncan took from Liberia to the United States days before being hospitalized.

The CDC has advised airlines to deny boarding people with possible symptoms of Ebola and to follow infection control procedures if they come into contact with someone suspected of being infected, such as separating the traveler and giving them an assigned lavatory.
