Protesters in Sau Paulo set buses on fire Friday night and damaged turnstiles after a peaceful demonstration turned violent before riot police moved in to restore order.
Activist Marecelo Hotimksy says in Portugese:
"As long as transportation is managed according to the interests of businessmen and not of those of the public who use it on a daily basis, we will remain on the streets fighting."
The demonstration came on the same day Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff announced that Sau Palo will getting around $2.5 billion in federal funds for transportation upgrades.
