North Korean veterans of the Korean War arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the conflict.
Men and women arriving in the capital by train were set to join several thousand other surviving comrades to attend festivities marking the end of the three-year war, which began in 1950. The main event will be a military parade through the center of Pyongyang on Saturday.
The Korean War ended on July 27, 1953, with North Korea signing an armistice agreement with the U.S.-led coalition of forces under a United Nations Command. North Korea refers to the war as "the Fatherland Liberation War" and calls itself a victor of that war.
But the two sides never signed a final peace agreement, which means the two Koreas are technically still at war.
