Eliz: Is this a big problem?
Gary: Well, it’s a big problem in high-tech industries like computer software.
Let’s say you work for a company that makes computer games.
Then you leave that company and go to another company that also makes computer games.
You have a lot of knowledge that belongs to your first company.
That’s intellectual property.
Eliz: So how can a company protect its intellectual property?
Gary: One way is to require all employees to sign a confidentiality agreement.
A confidentiality agreement says that you can’t use any secret information after you leave the company.
Eliz: That makes sense.
Thanks for today’s tips, Gary.
Let’s take a short break.
