The daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton has visited Burma on behalf of her father's charitable foundation.
Chelsea Clinton represented the Clinton Global Initiative at a Monday ceremony bringing its Children's Safe Drinking Water initiative to the Southeast Asian nation.
The program provides water purification packets to areas with unsafe water supplies. The project's organizers say access to safe drinking water is poor in rural Burma due to pollution.
Clinton said clean water is essential to building a successful future Burma.
"And I can't wait to come back in a few years and see all the villagers that have clean drinking water and all the kids who will grow up healthy because of it.''
Burma would have been denied such help a few years ago because it was shunned by the United States for its undemocratic military rule. But as secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton helped nudge elected Burmese government toward democratic reforms, making a groundbreaking visit in 2011.
