Vietnamese female militants, dressed in ethnic minorities costumes, hold rifles while marching during the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Dien Bien Phu battle in the historic city. Viet Minh forces overran the French garrison in Dien Bien Phu on May 7, 1954 after a 56-day siege, forcing the French government to abandon its colonial rule in Indochina.
