White House Christmas Tree
It's beginning to look more like Christmas near the White House.
U.S. President Barack Obama flipped the switch, lighting the National Christmas tree during a ceremony Friday night.
He was joined by the first family on the White House Ellipse. The 91st lighting ceremony kicked off the Pageant of Peace, which features a month-long sequence of public events such as concerts by choirs, bands and dancers.
And at the Capitol, U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner helped light the Capitol Christmas tree in Washington DC, in an annual tree-lighting ceremony that was attended by other members of Congress.
