US CHERRY BLOSSOM VO
Thousands of people are flocking to one of Washington's most popular springtime attractions.
The cherry blossom trees are at their peak bloom, just in time for Saturday's National Cherry Blossom parade in downtown Washington.
The thousands of trees lining the capital's tidal basin next to the Jefferson Memorial were a gift to the U.S. from Japan in 1912 as a symbol of friendship.
The National Cherry Blossom Festival's three-week promotion of natural beauty, arts and culture runs through Sunday.
