South Korean President Park Guen-hye told students in Beijing Saturday she believes her country can forge a new type of relationship with North Korea.
Ms. Park told students at Tsinghua University that creating a peaceful Korean peninsula without Pyongyang's nuclear issues would be beneficial to China.
"If we can achieve a peace situation on the Korean Peninsula, it cannot only benefit development in the northeast part of China, but also boost China's prosperity. Furthermore, a northeast Asia without geopolitical risks derived from the issue of North Korea would serve as a growth engine for the world's economy through the combination of a rich labor force and the world's best capital and technologies in the region. It will also make everybody's life more resolute and offer more opportunities of success for your lives."
Ms. Park began a four-day visit to China Thursday, holding formal meetings with leaders, including President Xi Jinping. She is seeking China's help in stopping North Korea's nuclear program
