Republican Ryan Is Elected US House Speaker

After a month of drama and division among Republicans, who hold a big majority in the House of Representatives, they united Thursday to elect Representative Paul Ryan as speaker. Ryan got 236 votes; just nine of his fellow Republicans voted for a conservative challenger.
