El Salvador has launched an aggressive campaign aimed at protecting school children from the potentially fatal dengue spread by infected mosquitoes.
Workers spent part of Friday spaying insecticides at puddles and standing water where mosquitoes breed. Dengue is one the main causes of sickness and death across the tropical country.
The mosquitoes carrying the virus are usually found in densely populated areas. There is no vaccine or cure for dengue. People who contract the virus usually display flu-like systems.
