Accusing the Lao government of using forced starvation to flush out Hmong insurgents from jungles, a Hmong-American group told the U.S. Congress that up to 850 women and children are expected to surrender to Lao authorities or face starvation.
The group, led by former Gen. Vang Pao and Gen. Thonglith Chokbengboun, met with U.S. Congressmen and State Department officials to lobby for their support to insure that those women and children are treated in a humane manner if and when they surrender.
