Laos for the first time has set a ten-year goal to clear unexploded ordnances from 20,000 hectares of land, but said it will need more foreign aid to fund the project, which aims at removing UXO from 2,000 hectares of land a year from 2003 to 2013 at an estimated cost of $4 million per year.
Since 1996, Laos has removed over 500,000 UXO's from about 5,000 hectares of land through out the country with international help.
