Hmong in Minnesota Have Higher Rates of Some Cancers - 2003-06-12

The study found that, from 1988 to 1999, the Hmong community had about eight times the rate of stomach and liver cancer as the general population in the state.

In addition, the researchers found 13 cases of nasopharyngeal cancer or cancer of the back of the nose and upper throat. That translated into a rate among the Hmong almost 40 times greater than for Minnesota as a whole.
