The Sepone Gold Mine in Savannakhet was officially opened by Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Vice Premier of Laos, on Thursday 27 February 2003.
The mine, 80% owned by Oxiana Resources and 20% by Rio Tinto, started gold production in December 2002.
