Recording Lao Songs Was Thai Artist's Life-Long Dream

Tom Rainbow, lead singer of the popular Thai band of the 1980's and early 1990's, recently released his all-Lao songs album. Tom returned after many years of absence from the entertainment scene to fulfill his life-long dream.

The Thai singer of Lao descent talks to VOA about the work behind the production of his latest album, which is a compilation of Lao classic songs, penned by Lao famous songwriters and singers such as Voradeth Ditthavong,

Keo Silavong, Sanong Ounvong, S. Sengsirivan and two new songwriters: Tiao Khamphay Kounlavouth and Dr. Khabkeo. Tom said he spent years to learn how to read Lao and sing karaoke to perfect his Lao accent.

The album was released in CD, VCD, and DVD formats. Videa scenes were mostly shot in France where Tom has been living for many years now with his wife and children. He is currently touring the U.S. to promote his album.
