Over 46,000 Lao workers in Thailand have completed their citizenship verification process out of more than 80,000 foreign workers who have registered with the Thai Labor ministry.
This means they will be permitted to work legally in Thailand and will receive all the benefits provided to Thai workers. However, they can stay only for no longer than four consecutive years.
Over 700,000 foreign workers in Thailand have not completed their citizenship verification, including some 80,000 from Laos.
