Brussels Remains on Highest Terror Alert

1/8 Security forces appear generally calm as they widen their search for men suspected of being involved in the Paris attacks, and possibly planning attacks in Brussels, Belgium.

2/8 Brussels remains on the highest levels of alert on Nov. 22, 2015, as authorities brace for what they fear could be a massive terrorist attack.

3/8 Tanks guard tourist centers in Brussels, Belgium, while journalists prepare to report on an event they hope will not happen.

4/8 Amid the fear, Brussels continues to prepare for Christmas, as workers build a manger in the square. Local hotels, however, have been asked to keep their doors locked and many shops, cinemas, and train lines are closed.

5/8 Tourist sights are quiet Sunday morning, but a government review of the security situation may relax tensions in the afternoon. Reports say there have been many threats of attacks in Europe.

6/8 Soldiers and police are out in force in Brussels, as authorities search for men suspected of plotting attacks on the European Union.

7/8 Metros and other places like sports arenas, shopping centers and cinemas are closed on Sunday, as Brussels remains on high alert throughout the day.

8/8 Despite terrorist fears some tourists enjoy Brussels' spectacular buildings. The heavy security presence gets as much attention from tourists as the sights.
