Japan's first robot astronaut is making new strides aboard the International Space Station.
Space officials released video Thursday of "Kiboro" calling home for the first time since arriving at the space station early last month.
Researchers say the call made recently( two weeks ago) represents the first time a robot has ever spoken from space.
Kirobo will conduct experiments by taking verbal command from (Japan's Aerospace Exploration Agency) Japan's astronaut commander and by remote control from earth.
Kiboro, who only communicates in Japanese, is scheduled to return home in December of next year.
