Thai officials in Phetchaboon province in northeastern Thailand opposite to Sayaboury province of Laos say more than 4 thousand Hmongs have crossed from Laos into Thailand in the past two months, hoping to resettle in the U.S. However, the U.S. State Department on April 20 says it is ending a resettlement program for Hmong people now living in Thailand. A statement issued Wednesday by the Department of State in Washington said the United States is not conducting any registration of Hmong residing in Thailand for resettlement in the United States.
