Japan's foreign minister arrived in China today (Sunday) for talks about the two countries' strained relations, as a new wave of sometimes violent anti-Japanese protests broke out across China.

The leaders of India and Pakistan met today (Sunday) for wide-ranging talks described as very warm and positive, and officials say they agreed to strengthen their two countries' ties in a number of areas.

Iraqi government officials say their security forces have rescued more than a dozen Shi'ite families held hostage by Sunni militants. Iraqi authorities say troops backed by U.S.-led coalition forces entered the town of Madaen, just south of Baghdad, early today (Sunday) and freed about 15 Shi'ite families.
