Villagers in the border areas between Thailand's Ubonrachthani province and Laos' Champasak province said that illegal poaching of the wild elephants has sharply increased. Meanwhile, Thai environmentalists believe that Nam Theun II Dam construction will adversely affect a large number of wild elephants in Laos.
