The Lao PDR sent out 20,000 census takers across the country to conduct its third census ever. The collected demographic data will be used for planning the socio-economomic development strategy for the next ten years.
In other news, Chinese and Vietnamese investors have increased their investments in Laos, with the Chinese building a $1.7 million-market plaza in Oudomxay province and a $20 million-cement plant in Saravanh.
The Vietnamese, meanwhile, have invested $30 million on a para rubber plantation in Champassack province.
