The Lao government has officially sent a protest note to the US embassy in Vientiane, saying US allegations of human rights abuses in Laos are baseless. It noted that Laos has cooperated closely with the US in the search for and repatriation of American MIA's, and that is a sign of Laos' respect for human rights.
