Laos and Vietnam have opened a 26-hour passenger bus route between Vientiane and Hanoi that will make three runs a week at $22 for a one-way trip.
Meanwhile, four countries of the upper Mekong sub-region -- China, Burma, Laos and Thailand,-- have agreed to continue their cooperation in making the Mekong navigatable for passenger and cargo transport from China down to Thailand, and also to increase security measures along the Mekong.
