Laos says it expects to be able to attract and accommodate over 1.5 million tourists during the next two years, based on the number of tourist arrivals in 2004. Tourism in a major source of foreign exchange for the impoverished country. Another one is foreign investment, of which the fastest growing is the mining sector with Oxiana Resources expecting to produce about 160,000 oz. of gold and 60,000 tons of copper from it Sepone mine in Savannakhet province.
