The UN Climate conference has concluded in Buenos Aires with the United States and the European Union reaching a compromise agreement regarding climate meetings next year. Officials at the conference say the two sides agreed to meet in May for what has been described as an "informal exchange of information" regarding climate change.

The European Union and Turkey have agreed to begin membership talks next year. It is the first major step of a 10- to 15-year process that could lead to the moderate Muslim nation joining the trading bloc.

The United States has issued a new travel warning on Indonesia, citing concerns over possible terrorist threats. The State Department says terrorists may strike in Indonesia during the December-to-January holiday period, and against "a wide variety of targets."

The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) says Burma will play the home leg of their Tiger Cup semifinal against Singapore at Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium on December 29. The Tiger Cup is very popular in Burma, but the impoverished country does not have a venue that can accommodate the large number of people who would want to attend.
