Iraqi authorities say a suicide car-bomb blast in central Baghdad killed at least seven Iraqis and wounded 19 other people today-- the anniversary of Saddam Hussein's capture by U.S. forces. Police in Baghdad say the bomber detonated his car at a security checkpoint for the Green Zone--a heavily protected compound housing government and diplomatic offices in the Iraqi capital.

Indonesia officials have ordered increased security for Christian churches after attacks on two congregations Sunday evening. Cabinet Secretary Sudi Silalahi said Monday that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has ordered police to pay special attention to churches, especially during Christmas and New Year's.

Ukrainian opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko says he is happy to be alive and ready to resume his presidential campaign. Mr. Yushchenko arrived back in Kiev Sunday after treatment in Austria for what doctors confirm was a case of dioxin poisoning. The toxic chemical caused Mr. Yushchenko's one time youthful and handsome face to become bloated and scarred by severe acne.
