Two car bombs exploded at almost the same moment today just outside central Baghda'd heavily fortified "Green Zone,"killing at least three people and wounding 35 others. The U.S military says the twin explosions occured near a checkpoint leading into Green Zone, which houses Iraq's interim government and headquarters of the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq. The blasts were so together that those nearby heard only one explosion.

A spokeswoman for Ukraine's Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych has confirmed he will run for president again in the court-ordered repeat of a run-off election against opposition candidate Viktor Yushchenko. The spokeswoman said today Mr. Yanukovych is convinced he will win. The prime minister had earlier accused the Supreme Court of exceeding its authority in ordering the new election.

Cambodia has told the United Nations that it is ready to hold trials for many former leaders of the Khmer Rouge. U.N. Secretary General Koffi Annan, in a report to the U.N. General Assembly, said Cambodia has notified the world body that it has met all the requirements laid out in an agreement with Phnom Penh in 2003.
