U.S Secretary of State Colin Powell says the United States and South Korea have reconfirmed their commitment to restart six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear ambitions. Mr. Powell told reporters in Seoul today following talks with South Korea's Unification Minister Chung Dong-young that it is time to move forward with more nuclear talks, adding that the issue must come to a conclusion.

South Korea says two or three holes found in wire fences along the demilitarized zone that divides the peninsula do not appear to be the work of North Korean spies.

A Thai justice ministry official says at least 78 people died during a riot Monday in Southern Thailand as security forces clashed with Muslim demonstrators.The official says the victims appeared to have died from suffocation in the crush outside a police station in Narathiwat province.

A new study says that Laos must take urgent action to deal with child trafficking. The study, released today by the U.N. Children's Fund and the Lao Labor ministry, says Laos is vulnerable to tarfficking as it is one of the world's least developed countries in a fast-developing region.
