U.S. and Iraqi foces have raided several mosques in the insurgent-stronghold city of Ramadi, where American officials say places of worship were being used to provide support for rebels activities. Witnesses say seven mosques were targeted in today's raid, and soldiers arrested the region's top Sunni Muslim cleric.

North Korea says it has the right to test and deploy missiles in response to U.S threats. A North Korean commentary, monitored by South Korea's Yonhap news agency, says Pyongyang's test production and deployment of missiles is self-defensive in nature and poses no threat to anyone.

The United Nations say it will investigate alleged irregularities in Afghanistan's presidential election. The U.N. named two election experts to help lead the probe and said the European Union will select a third expert.
