Deadly bombings have rocked the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Iraqi officials say at least 17 people were killed early today in a car bomb attack near the Oil ministry in northeast Baghdad. They say the attack, which was early believed to be a rocket attack, occurred as people were going to work.

Officials in Afghanistan are collecting ballots after an historic presidential election tainted by allegations of fraud. Ballot boxes from polling stations across the country we5re being moved to counting centers today so votes could be tallied.

Pakistani officials say militants holding two Chinese engineers captive have threatened to kill them, but a Chinese official insists he was told the hostages are safe.
