Lao Children Joined Fight Against Human Trafficking - 2004-10-07

Victimized Lao children and women participated in the Lao Forum on human trafficking which was held in Vientiane, capital city of Laos. on Sept. 21, 2004, organized by Save the Children UK, ILO and co-hosted by the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, and a number of International organizations.

More than 30 Lao children from 6 provinces and some senior government officials attended the forum. The children - some have been victimized by human trafficking as they were lured to work in long hours in poor conditions, sometimes for little or no pay, - expressed their desire that the problem be solved and requested help to restart their lives.

The forum was designed to bring about an end to human trafficking in Laos.
