Insurgents in Iraq fired several mortar rounds into central Baghdad today, as U.S forces hit insurgent targets in the Sadr City neighborhood. There have been no confirmed reports of casualties. U.S. forces also bombed targets in the insurgent stronghold of Fallujah, west of Baghdad.

South Korea has called for an early end to the controversy over its secret nuclear experiments, saying a resolution will allow Seoul to resume efforts to resolve the standoff over North Korea's nuclear program.

Laos is again denying allegations that Lao troops committed human rights violations against Hmong children. Amnesty International said last month that it received witness testimony and video evidence suggesting five Hmong children were mutilated and killed by Lao troops in May.
