Laos says the Nam Theun 2 project will make the lives of the villagers relocated from the affected area better off within five years of the completion of the dam, because they will have more means of earning their living.
For instance, they will be able to cultivate all year-round the land provided to them, to fish all year-round in the reservoir, to participate in community reforestation project, and to work in the dam construction itself.
