Russian officials say they expect 100,000 people at an anti-terrorism rally today in Moscow, as the nation observes a second day of mourning for the more than 300 victims of last week's school hostage crisis. Some cities have already held smaller rallies.

Fierce fighting between U.S forces and Shi'ite militants in Baghdad's Sadr city neighborhood has killed at least one US soldier and more than 30 Iraqis. The U.S military say the fighting began late Monday when U.S troops on routine patrol came under attack. The fighting was reported continuing today (Tuesday).

Army chiefs from Southeast Asian nations conclude two days of talk in Indonesia today on fighting terrorism and illegal arms trafficking. Indonesia;s army chief says the Association of Southeast Asian Nations meeting, which began Monday in Jakarta, is aimed at strengthening anti-terrorism efforts amond ASEAN members to prevent cross-border terrorism.
