Militants in Najaf loyal to Iraq's radical Muslim cleric Moqtada al-Sadr remain in control of the city's Imam Ali shrine today (Saturday), but say they are meeting with senior Shi'ite Muslim religious figures to discuss arrangements for handing over the holy site.

The United States has filed criminal charges against three men accused of funneling millions of dollars from this country to the Palestinian militant group Hamas over the past 15 years. Two of the men have been arrested, and the third suspect, a senior member of the Hamas organization, reportedly is in Syria.

Australia and Britain have issued new travel advisories warning their citizens to stay away from the Muslim-dominated provinces of southern Thailand. The advisories, issued Friday, note the threat of violence against foreigners in the region that is known for its tourist appeal. Australia's travel advisory says Canberra has received reports that terrorists are planning attacks in places like shopping malls, bars, restaurants and other tourist areas.
