Over 180,000 illegal workers from Laos have taken adventage of the Thai government’s registration period that ended July 31, which means they will be allowed to work in Thailand for another year and will thereafter be included in Thailand’s employment system. Those who fail to register will be cracked down, and if caught, they will be imprisoned for three months, fined 5,000 Bahts, and deported home.
