U.S. military officials in Iraq say 13 insurgents have died in clashes near the town of Baquba, north of Baghdad.The officials say Iraqi National Guardsmen and police killed the insurgents after coming under fire today (Sunday), as they helped U.S. forces search for militants who had been firing mortars just south of Baquba (near the town of Buhriz).

A group claiming to be the European branch of the al-Qaida terror network has threatened to launch attacks against Australia and Italy, unless the countries withdraw troops from Iraq.

Vietnam has accused the United Nations refugee agency of luring ethnic Montagnards to cross from Vietnam into Cambodia with promises of asylum. A Vietnamese foreign ministry spokesman (Le Dung) says the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is serving what he called the interests of forces hostile to Vietnam.
