Laos sets an ambitious goal to upgrade its roads and bring its transport networks up to international standards, with 49 projects of road improvement planned throughout the country and 50 projects in Vientiane alone, with an estimated cost totalling over 75 million dollars. For these projects, Laos has received a 17.7 million-dollar loan from the ADB, a 6-million-dollar assistance from OPEC, and another 7.3 million-dollar from Norway. It’s not clear where the rest of the money will come from.
