Militants in Iraq say they have beheaded a captured U.S Marine, a Muslim who was raised in Lebanon before becoming an American citizen.An Internet statement in the name of the militant group Ansar al-Sunna group says its members killed Wassef Ali Hassoun.

The new government in Baghdad says it is considering offering an amnesty to insurgents who have been fighting against the U-S led coalition in Iraq, and reports indicate such a pardon could extend to guerillas who have killed Americans and other members of coalition forces.

Indonesians go the polls Monday to vote for the first time in a direct presidential election, with incumbent Megawati Sukarnoputri possibly headed for defeat.Opinion polls have President Megawati trailing General Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, a former security minister.
