President Bush has declared Friday a national day of mourning for former President Ronald Reagan, who died Saturday at his home in California at the age of 93. Mr. Bush praised the country's 40th president, saying he enhanced America's security and advanced the spread of peace, lberty and democracy to millions of people who had lived in darkness and oppression.

Iraq's interim prime minister says nine militias have agreed to disband.A statement today (Monday) from Iyad Allawi in Baghdad said members of the militias of major parties would join Iraq's security forces, or re-enter civilian life.

Burmese authorities have released nine democracy activists arrested a week ago while handing out leaflets on human rights.The 9 young men are all members of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democarcy.
