State:  A Peaceful Resolution to Laos Insurgency Problem Is Another U.S. Human Rights Priority - 2004-05-25

The U.S. State Deparment's report says encouraging a peaceful resolution to a long-running insurgency issue in Laos was another U.S. human rights priority. The United States remains concerned about small groups of people living in remote areas of Laos.

The U.S. Ambassador met with dozens of senior officials, including members of the Politburo and provincial governors, to discuss this problem and to press the Lao Government for a humanitarian and peaceful solution.
