Malaysia's Sun Trusts Holding Company, sole developers of Laos' first 5-star hotel being built on Don Chan Island, says the construction is proceeding well and will be completed in October as scheduled, and the hotel will open in November on time to accommodate delegations from other Southeast Asian countries who will be in Vientiane for the annual ASEAN summit.
The fourteen-storyed Don Chanh Palace will have 240 rooms including 20 VIP suites, and will cost roughly $25 millions to build. However, the second phase of the construction, a two-storyed shopping center big enough to accommodate 1,500 shops, will not be completed until 2005. That project will cost an additional $18 million.
