Laos Says Its Drug Problems Less Serious Than in Other Asian Countries - 2004-04-13


Drug dealers in Laos have changed their selling strategies, by using elementary school children to push drugs, particularly methamphetamines - one or two tablets at a time, making schools their primary targets. Authorities told participants at a recent drug counselling and training course jointly sponsored by the U.S embassy in Vientiane.

However, Laos Interior Minister insists drug problems in his country are not as serious as in other Asian countries, and that drug traffickers and users are mostly non-Laotians.
