The United States says Wednesday's killing of four American civilian workers in Iraq and the mutilation of their bodies will not change the U-S mission in the country. White House spokesman Scott Mc Clellan said those behind, what he called, "the horrific despicable attacks " in the town of Fallujah are trying to prevent democracy from moving forward.

Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra says he will visit Malaysia next week to ask for help in ending months of violence in Thailand's Muslim-dominated south.

President Bush has announced he will nominate Michael W. Marine to become the U-S Ambassador to Vietnam. Mr. Marine is currently the deputy chief of mission at the U-S Embassy in Beijing and has previously served in the same capacity in Nairobi, Kenya.
