Mekong River Drops to Record Low - 2004-03-30

The water in the Mekong river has dropped to the lowest level in forty years to less than one-meter deep in the Golden Triangle area, suspending navigation and threatening the livelihoods of millions of people in Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

Environmentalists blame dam constructions in China, while officials say drought is partly to blame.
