US Secretary of State Colin Powell said Thursday that he will speak with United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan on the plight of the Hmong people in Laos.
Mr. Powell told a U-S Senate hearing that the UN can play, in his words, an "important role" in ensuring the safety of the Hmongs.
